Infant among victims of triple murder in Athlone

A nine-month-old baby is among the victims of a triple murder in Athlone, Cape Town.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at Sunbird Court at around 10 pm on Tuesday.
Two men were also wounded in the attack.
Athlone police discovered five victims at the scene of a gun attack in Sunbird Court.
An infant and two women, aged 25 and 36, were fatally wounded. Two other victims were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police spokesperson Andre Traut said that the assailants are still at large.
"Detectives from our Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are working around the clock to identify and arrest the three suspects who fled the scene. All available resources have been mobilised in a bid to bring those responsible to justice."
The incident comes less than a week after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the re-deployment of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to address gang and gun violence in the Western Cape.
