E-hailing: The laws vs the loopholes

The recent killing of Isaac Satlat has brought some questions to light about the procedures used to ensure the safety and training of e-hailing drivers.

It has been revealed that some drivers share profiles and vehicles.
Secretary-General of the E-hailing Partners Council, Melithemba Mnguni, says it's a big problem.
"It's something that is easy for those that are doing it to do it... and it's not new. This is a practice that is happening for a long time."
Mnguni says the issue is only happening on the Bolt platform, as it has been resolved by Uber using a selfie verification method and other safety protocols.
He explains that there are also problems with deactivated drivers using someone else's profile or vehicle for financial gain.
"That unfortunately compromises the service a lot."
