KwaZulu-Natal premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has urged the government to prioritise women as it works on returning land to dispossessed communities.

Ntuli was speaking at a ceremony on Friday, where the national government handed over two thousand title deeds to people displaced from their land during apartheid.

"I wish that as we return land to the people, we should ensure that women benefit in their numbers because they are the majority and financially disadvantaged," said Ntuli.

Ntuli has also urged people to put their differences aside following concerns from some disgruntled communities' members.

"I also wish there could be cooperation between the traditional leadership and the beneficiaries today so that this programme can receive public support," said Ntuli.
