The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of certain Land Rover Defender and Jaguar i-Pace vehicles due to safety concerns that could put motorists at risk.

The commission says the 60 2026 model Land Rover Defender, sold between November 2025 and February 2026 are affected.

According to the Jaguar Land Rover company, a defect in the seatbelt bracket could cause the seatbelt to fail during a crash.

Meanwhile, 67 Jaguar i-Pace electric vehicles sold between 2017 and 2021, are also being recalled over a potential fault in the high-voltage battery pack.

The defect leads to thermal overload, causing smoke and sometimes fire.

"Owners of the affected vehicles are urged to take their vehicles to the nearest authorised Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships for repairs. The necessary repair work will be carried out at no cost to the consumer," said NCC spokesperson Pheto Ntaba.
