Cancel culture is the process of publicly calling out, shaming, or boycotting someone because of behaviour deemed offensive.
Around the world this has affected many people of status, from politicians to well-known celebrities.
The trend of cancel culture is reportedly growing in South Africa.
Moeng says that while this can have some positive impacts, it can also be extremely problematic.
“Our former ambassador to the US was also cancelled by Donald Trump.”

He says that people must be sensitive and aware of issues that affect other communities, but it can turn into a ‘witch hunt.’
