Gauteng bolsters crime fighting with cross-boundary enforcement

The Gauteng government has signed the Gauteng Safety Agreement, a memorandum of understanding on cross-boundary law enforcement.
This will allow arms of the policing service to move across traditional boundaries.
The aim of this is to ensure better coordination between branches of law enforcement and strengthen the impact of crime prevention tactics.
“Police services were strictly restricted towards their boundaries… but your criminals are not restricted by these boundaries.”

The memorandum brings together Gauteng Provincial Government, the South African Police Service, municipal police departments and local and district municipalities.
Els says this is undoubtably going to make policing more efficient.
