KZN CPF praises establishment of commission of inquiry into Mkhwanazi's allegations

DURBAN - The Community Policing Forum (CPF) in KwaZulu-Natal has praised the establishment of a commission of inquiry into shocking allegations made by KZN police boss Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Mkhwanazi has made explosive allegations about a criminal syndicate that has compromised the country's law enforcement.

On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the appointment of a commission to probe the allegations.

The CPF said the inquiry should be trusted to get to the bottom of the allegations.

The community policing forum responsible for helping police fight crime in communities says a commission of inquiry is the only fair process to probe the claims made by Mkhwanazi.

The forum said it's only the inquiry where all parties will be able to present their side of the story.

"They want to ensure that every stone is turned before a decision made, so Minister Mchunu and others like General Sibiya are to be given a free process to come and present their cases," said provincial secretary, Siyanda Biyela.

He said the forum also pledges support for work done by police in KZN.

“We want to also echo our support for the SAPS in KwaZulu-Natal, led by Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi, to continue doing the great work. We've seen strides of great work that has been done.”

A number of marches in support of Mkhwanazi are expected in parts of KZN this week.
