Political parties warn against appointment of ANC-aligned people as SETA administrators

CAPE TOWN - Political parties have warned Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela against appointing African National Congress (ANC) aligned people as Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) administrators.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) want Manamela to reconsider the appointment of three administrators who are tasked with turning around the struggling SETAs, saying some of them served in various ANC administrations in different capacities.

Manamela announced the appointment of the administrators to the Services SETA, Local Government SETA (LGSETA), and Construction SETA.
Political parties quickly responded to Manamela’s announcement that he’s appointed three administrators to help resolve governance problems at the SETAs.
Manamela appointed Matjie Masoga, Oupa Nkoane and Zukile Mvalo to the services, construction and local government SETAs, respectively.
EFF member of Parliament (MP) Sihle Lonzi took to social media to say those close to Manamela should advise him that he is “starting on the wrong foot” by appointing people close to the ANC.
DA MP Karabo Khakhau said Manamela must reconsider the appointments.
"The DA has written urgently to Minister Manamela to demand that he reconsiders the appointments of ANC cadres who are implicated in R800 million worth of corruption."
Manamela said the administrators have extensive experience in governance, economic development, including a strong legal background.
