'Absolutely brilliant on attack in the first half and first few minutes of the second, absolutely rubbish on defense in the first half and for key bits of the second half..."

That's John Maytham commenting on the Stormers' performance in their nail-biter of a match against Connacht in Cape Town this past weekend in the United Rugby Championship (URC).

Man of the Match Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (Springbok fly-half) was in the headlines for his brilliant attacking game in their 34-29 win over the Irish team, but the Stormers' defense has been described as their worst in years.

'It was like watching a train derail', says head coach John Dobson.

"Connacht is probably the best attacking team in the competition... to be fair to defence coach Norman Laker. On our side, it was largely individual errors - we're a high line defense team and it's a lot of pressure on 13 and the wing... and if it's just too late, you pay for the high line."

"It's a tough system... and we have to as ourselves if we empowered them properly, if we trained properly in the week, because it was nothing short of embarrassing."

Dobson's charges are up against Italian side Benetton outfit this coming Saturday (kickoff 18:15) at the DHL Stadium.

He says individual fixes and a change in personnel are up for consideration in their preparation this week.
