JOHANNESBURG - A special police task team has been roped into a probe into the kidnapping of a 19-year-old in Bloemfontein.
It’s understood that Kamogelo Baukudi disappeared on Thursday after he was taken by men posing as police officers.
Police have since opened cases of kidnapping and impersonating an officer and are pleading for public help.
Baukudi was in the driver’s seat on his way from school with a family friend when they were pulled over by a bakkie fitted with blue lights.
Two men, one in a police uniform, the other in a blue tracksuit, told them their vehicle was linked to drug deliveries and ordered them to drive to the Park Road Police Station.
Baukudi was placed in the men’s vehicle, and along the road, the bakkie disappeared.
The teen’s phone was found later, under a bridge on Ferrera Road.
Free State police spokesperson, Thabo Covane, said: "A Search Task Team in Mangaung Metro is currently out in the streets looking for 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi who was kidnapped by two males impersonating the police earlier."
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicles near Vereeniging Drive to come forward.
