World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on 10 September to highlight the challenges faced by individuals and, most importantly, how they can access support.
Under the theme, ‘Hope starts with talking’, SADAG is encouraging people to check in regularly with their loved ones.
Have open and honest conversations to spread hope that whatever you are going through is not as hopeless as they think.
“We live in the most connected society… but I feel like we are the least connected society than ever before, and as a result, when we lose hope, it is very difficult for somebody to pick that up.”
– Dr Zamo Mbhele, Clinical Psychologist – SADAG
“Talking is not a weakness… it is the first step to healing and we know that every conversation that we start can be a thread to hope that keeps someone connected to life.”
– Dr Zamo Mbhele, Clinical Psychologist – SADAG
