JOHANNESBURG - Lawyers for former President Jacob Zuma want the expelled leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK), Jabulani Khumalo, to be charged with perjury for claims he has made in the Electoral Court.
On Monday, the court heard an application by Khumalo for his expulsion and removal as president of the party to be declared invalid and unlawful.

He claims that a fraudulent letter informing the IEC of Zuma’s appointment as party president was forged by his daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.
But Zuma's lawyer, Dali Mpofu, claimed this was a concoction of demonstrable lies and made-up stories and should amount to perjury.
He wants the court to slap Khumalo with a costs order and a warning.
"Which would be a warning to other people who think that this is a playground for perjurers and other fraudsters to stay away from the courts and from the oath because what this is about, one is not just undermining the courts, you’re undermining the oath."
