The brutal weather left some towns in the Karoo region without power supply, as electricity infrastructure crumbled under stormy weather conditions.

The deadline to restore power supply in the region is Thursday next week.

Eskom said the storm damaged the entire infrastructure network, necessitating specialised heavy machinery and additional man power to be used to return supply to affected areas.

The utility called for patience as its teams are working around the clock to switch the lights back on.
