There's nothing like unwinding after a long day and putting on your favourite series.

For those who pay for streaming platforms, the episodes are ready to go with the click of a button.

But for those that rely on DStv, you may be one of the many viewers like Val who recently experienced frustration with their handling of a series on channel 103.

She was enjoying Yellowstone but was dismayed to find it replaced abruptly with another show, two episodes short of the season finale.

Initially seeking clarification from MultiChoice, Hudson received a response suggesting that content on 1Max serves to promote their streaming service, Showmax.

Hudson questioned whether this tactic made channel 103 mere 'bait' to upsell subscribers to more expensive packages.

After persistent inquiry, MultiChoice told Knowler they are committed to airing full seasons on 1Max.

"All the content that is scheduled on 1Max will now air in full seasons until the last episode," they said.

TV journalist Thinus Ferreira noted the channel's mysterious launch and lack of publicity, highlighting ongoing challenges in how DStv integrates streaming and linear programming.

"What this whole story turned out to be for me was an exercise in total miscommunication and confusion."
