CAPE TOWN - The search continues for a Cape Town fisherman missing at sea after being swept off the rocks by a wave in Big Bay.
The local coast watch community initiated a search along that stretch of coast on Saturday.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) crew and the Western Cape Department of Health rescue squad were among the services on the scene when the distress call came.
“The NSRI rescue craft, Rescue 18 Alpha, was launched. An NSRI headquarters rescue craft, Spirit of Rotary, was diverted to the scene from a training exercise and assisted in a search operation,” said the NSRI’s Craig Lambinon.
“On arrival on the scene, a search commenced for an adult male fisherman who was swept off rocks by a wave while shoreline angling, and he was last seen by a family member in the surf line.”
