PRETORIA - The South Lawns at the Union Buildings are filling up with thousands of people as they reach the finish line at the 702 Walk the Talk.

Scores of people spent the day walking along the streets of Pretoria CBD from the Freedom Park Heritage Site.

The annual event in 2024 forms part of the commemoration of 30 years of democracy.

702 Walk the Talk participants enjoyed entertainment at the Union Buildings South Lawns after an 8 kilometre walk from the Freedom Park Heritage Site.

Some participants told Eyewitness News that they didn't expect to reach the finish line in Pretoria’s scorching heat.

Traffic remained heavily backed up in parts of the inner city of Pretoria on Sunday afternoon, with some roads closed to traffic for the 702 Walk the Talk event.
