Car parts theft becoming more widespread than vehicle theft

Criminals have become more sophisticated - finding ways to work around a car’s safety features.
Instead of stealing cars, they are removing components like car wheels, wheel caps, car batteries, sound equipment, vehicle mirrors, and headlights.

This trend is being driven by a demand for affordable and easily concealed parts on the black market.

However, there are ways you can protect your car and all its accessories.
Masiye recommends equipping your wheels with locknuts to protect your wheels and rims.
He adds that your car battery may be stolen in between repairs, so you should always go to reputable repair shops.
Parking in busy, visible and well-lit areas will also deter criminals from targeting your car.
Masiye also warns that you should always declare all your accessories and extras otherwise your insurance may not cover them.
