Kota lovers, mark your calendars!
The township's number one street food will be celebrated at the 7th annual Blue Ribbon Soweto Kota Festival on Saturday (7 September 2024).
Due to the festival's growth and popularity, this year's event will be held at Fun Valley Pleasure Resort in Olifantsvlei just off the Golden Highway.
"When we started this about six years ago, we wanted to take the kota business to the next level."
- Sidwell Tshingilane, Soweto Kota Festival organiser
"The event is about celebrating the township culture. Food brings people together. It's a family event."

With about 100 stalls, there will be something for everyone - even those who don't want to overindulge in kotas.
Tshingilane says several other food and drink options will also be available; including something for vegetarians.
From an improved kids' entertainment area, live performances, prize giveaways and more, this event promises something for the whole family.
