Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating four counts of murder following a deadly shooting in Inanda.
Officers said that one community patroller and one suspect died at the scene while two other patrollers later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said that the patrollers encountered three suspected robbers on Nohohwana Skeke street.
"An altercation then reportedly ensued and there was an exchange of gun fire between the community patrollers and the alleged suspects," said Netshiunda.
