Solar power producer Scatec saddened by deaths in Vanrhyns Pass bus crash

CAPE TOWN - Africa's biggest solar power plant, Scatec, said that it was saddened by the death of 10 people from a fatal bus crash on Vanrhyns Pass.
Twenty-nine others were injured after the bus they were travelling in veered off the pass on Monday evening.
The bus, carrying 38 farm workers, was on its way to Ceres from the Northern Cape when the tragedy occurred.
Scatec said that the 38 passengers were employed by one of their contractors, Ibhayi Construction.
The company said that the contractor's employees involved were from the Upington area and were based at some of their sites in the Ceres area.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, however, a case of culpable homicide has been opened.
Scatec spokesperson, Aidan Wildschut, said that they were in contact with the contracting company and working closely with local authorities to provide support to all those affected.
