2 suspects nabbed with 80kg of 'khat' at OR Tambo International

JOHANNESBURG - Two Dutch drug traffickers have been arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport with 80 kilograms of fresh “khat”.
The suspects were arrested in separate incidents while en route to the Netherlands.
In September, 13 drug traffickers were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport.

Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk:
“According to a preliminary report, both the 21-year-old and a 59-year-old suspect were on route from South Africa to the Netherlands via Dubai when they were intercepted by police; they attempted to check-in and board their flights on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The suspects were consequently arrested and expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates Court.”
