CAPE TOWN - It's day two of the South African Navy’s annual festival, currently underway at the east dockyard in Simon’s Town, Cape Town.
Following a seven-year hiatus due to budget cuts and later the COVID-19 pandemic, the navy has promised that 2024’s three-day event is their biggest yet.
Spokesperson Prince Tshabalala said the event, which appeals to all ages, features various exhibitions and offers the public an opportunity to engage with its fleet, personnel, and rich maritime heritage.
"The whole purpose of this festival is to create an awareness not only of the existence of the navy but also about the maritime domain, and to also ensure that those who want to explore careers and join the South African Navy can come and interact."
