JOHANNESBURG - The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway says operations will resume on Wednesday following a fire that broke out in the station’s parking garage.
The cableway was grounded last Thursday when a bank of lithium batteries caught alight.
Structural engineers said the heat did not reach the machinery that operated the cable cars but the infrastructure was halted as a precautionary measure.
At least 400 people were stuck on the mountain for several hours during the incident.
Visitors who have bought tickets have been given a window period to use them or they can request a refund.
