Ramokgopa: Resolving dispute between Eskom, CoJ over unpaid debt 'in our collective interests'

JOHANNESBURG - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has urged Joburg residents and businesses not to panic over a dispute between the city and Eskom.
Ramokgopa said that the two entities were working on finding common ground on their debt impasse.
The minister briefed the media on Monday following a meeting with the power utility and the City of Joburg.
Last week, Eskom issued the metro with a notice to cut power due to unpaid bills.
The power utility said that the City of Johannesburg owed it R6.3 billion.
Ramokgopa said a mediator would be roped in to help the two find an amicable solution.
"It is in our collective interests that we find a way of resolving this matter that is sustainable, enduring and also precedent-setting. We first met with the executive mayor on the sidelines of the lekgotla."
