Bothasig's Amstel Street ready to welcome public for festive lights drive-through
Residents of Bothasig invite the public to visit their neighbourhood this festive season to see how jolly and beautiful everything looks.
Lester Kiewit speaks to Jesse Campbell and Mario Borchards of the Bothasig Residents Association.
Listen below.
The Cape Town suburb of Bothasig is known for the wonderful Christmas lights displays that residents have been putting up for the last few years.
Decorated houses are mainly found in the smaller streets east of Bosmansdam Road, on the Plattekloof Road end of Bothasig and Amstel Street.
Some homes are draped in flickers of red, green and gold - a local feast for the eyes that people from across the city visit.
This year will be no different. The Bothasig community welcomes the public to a spectacular drive through their neighbourhood.
"We've got brilliant, brilliant residents that really put a lot of effort throughout the year in saving money to buy lights and setting up their houses for the festive season."
Campbell adds that more can be expected this year as the Cape Minstrels will march down the street, spreading festive cheer, song and dance. The date is still to be confirmed but should be as close to Christmas as possible.
