Perhaps we are in for a warmer and more welcoming 2025.

Pantone's 2025 Colour of the Year is ‘Mocha Mousse’, also known as 'brown' or 'Pantone 17-1230'.

Aside from its obvious connection to chocolate, it is described as a ‘warming, brown hue imbued with richness’.

“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence… [It] extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe,” says Pantone Colour Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman.

Pantone’s colour declaration has been running for more than 25 years.

The first Colour of the Year was Sky Blue in 1999.

In 2023 it was Viva Magenta and this year it was Peach Fuzz.

Many believed 2025 would be a shade of green due to the infamous ‘Brat Summer’ and the popularity of the ‘Wicked’ movie.
