KZN man linked to murder & attempted murder of his stepchildren makes first court appearance

DURBAN - A KwaZulu-Natal man linked to the murder and attempted murder of his stepchildren is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
The man was arrested in oThongathi, north of Durban on Friday after allegedly strangling a three-year-old boy to death and hacking a nine-year-old, leaving him for dead.
He will appear at the Verulam Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping, murder and attempted murder charges, among others.

Police said the accused attacked the children following a domestic altercation with their mother.
The man who is also the stepfather of the children, took them away from their mother before assaulting them.
After killing the youngest child, he went for his older brother who survived after being attacked.
Police discovered the three-year-old’s lifeless body hidden at a sugarcane farm, following the accused's arrest.
