JOHANNESBURG - The Information Regulator insists the enforcement notice and orders against the Department of Basic Education in relation to the publication of matric results are still effective.
The orders seek to bar the department from publishing the National Senior Certificate examination results for 2024 in the media.
However, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria struck the regulator's matter off the urgent court roll after it sought to compel the department to comply.
While the regulator has expressed disappointment at the judgment, it does, however, stand by the notice issued to the department.
"The information notice and the orders of the information notice and the infringement notice, those still stand. Those will stand until such time as an appeal has been lodged and so far, we’ve said there is no appeal, so those orders are still standing."
