JOHANNESBURG - A man accused of assaulting and killing his niece will be appearing in the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court on Friday in Limpopo.
According to preliminary investigations, the victim was attacked by her uncle because she did not sleep at home for a few days.
Provincial police said the 33-year-old man was arrested shortly after the 16-year-old victim was found dead earlier this week.
"On arrival at home, the suspect had a confrontation with the victim and the situation got tense. He then assaulted the victim with an object," said police spokesperson, Malasela Ledwaba.
"The victim’s mother summoned the emergency medical services personnel, and on arrival at the scene, they declared the victim dead."
