JOHANNESBURG - Newzroom Afrika anchor Aldrin Sampear has denied assaulting a female driver during an alleged road rage incident in Randburg, Johannesburg, saying the video circulating online was edited to portray him unfairly.
A case of common assault has reportedly been opened against the TV broadcaster at the Linden Police Station, following a car accident involving the woman earlier this week.
In the video, Sampear is seen confronting the woman, who accuses him of physical assault.
She is heard saying, "Stop hitting me," and threatens to open a police case.
Sampear claimed the footage was misleading and denied any physical contact, admitting only to a verbal altercation.
In a written statement, the prominent journalist explained that he had since reported the matter to police and referred it to his legal team.
The incident has sparked public debate online, as police continue to investigate the case.
