JOHANNESBURG - Newzroom Afrika has confirmed its prominent news anchor, Aldrin Sampear, will be taking an indefinite leave of absence with immediate effect.
This follows serious allegations that he physically assaulted another driver during a reported road rage incident in Johannesburg last week.
The incident has sparked widespread attention after a video, recorded by the alleged victim, went viral on social media.
In the footage, the distressed driver can be heard accusing Sampear of physical aggression.
Since the video went viral, the broadcast channel issued a statement saying it takes the allegations very seriously and has initiated an internal investigation to determine the facts surrounding IT.
Newzroom Afrika emphasised that it remains committed to upholding the highest ethical standards and professional conduct among its staff
