JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government is closely monitoring its supply chain management division to prevent corruption in the tender procurement process.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi received an independent report on Thursday outlining the state of ethical governance in the province.
The report indicates that although progress has been made, some unethical practices continue to slip through the cracks.
Lesufi says his government will continue to implement lifestyle audits to ensure government employees aren’t benefiting from the public purse.
“For the first time, we had lifestyle audits of all our HODs [heads of department] and CEO’s but we went beyond and said that even the next layers of senior managers that deal with contracts and appoints – all of them went through lifestyle audits.”
