Shireen Mathews, Abubaker Adams, Brian Booysen, Wanay Farao, and Vuyisani Zengethwa are linked to the alleged hit.
They appeared at the same court on Friday and are expected back on 29 May to apply for bail.
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said, "As we have mentioned before, that it's a schedule 6 and we have handed in the authorisation certificates confirming the schedule, meaning the State will oppose bail. The onus would be on them to ensure that it's in the interest of justice to be released on bail."
