CAPE TOWN - Residents of Delft are planning to take their grievances about the Delft Day Hospital to the office of the Western Cape Health MEC if service delivery doesn't improve.
Some community members picketed outside the Delft Community Health Centre’s gates on Wednesday over poor service delivery.

One resident, Hagar Kruger, claimed that while pregnant in March 2022, she was turned away from the health centre and gave birth on the side of the road.
She told EWN that this led to her losing the baby.
"I came in the morning and told them I am going into labour. I was seven months pregnant, but they showed me away. I'm a mother giving birth, where must I go to give birth if a hospital is chasing me away? So that's why I am here today, and I would like for Delft Day Hospital to improve their services and not for more babies to die here."
Delft community worker, Shirley De Bruyn, said that enough was enough.
"The toilets in the shebeens and in the pubs are cleaner than the toilets inside. So, we are handing over a memorandum and we are giving them 14 days to respond. If we are not satisfied, we will take the march to the MEC's office because we are really gatvol of how they are treating our people."
