MEYERTON - Police have recovered ten high-calibre firearms at the Meyerton taxi rank, following a suspected shootout between security companies earlier on Tuesday morning.
According to police, two rival security companies exchanged gunfire, turning the busy transport hub into a war zone.
Multiple vehicles were hit, and dozens of bullet casings now litter the ground.
Ten AK-47 assault rifles and a 9mm pistol have been recovered in and around the taxi rank.

Police say the volume and spread of bullet casings suggest the shootout was intense and lasted several minutes.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said detectives are piecing together what happened.
"Our detective will be investigating all the information that we are receiving. Like I said earlier on, the information we have from bystanders is that it was apparently two security companies."
