CAPE TOWN - A convicted child rapist, who is accused of commiting the same crime while out on parole, has had his parole revoked.

A 51-year-old man accused of raping a nine-year-old girl in Hanover Park made a second appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Friday.

The accused is charged with human trafficking, rape, sexual assault and abduction.

He appeared in a packed courtroom with a strong police presence.

Outside the court, a group of angry Hanover Park residents gathered to call for justice.

The State told the court that the rape accused's parole had been revoked.

He was convicted for rape and indecent assault in 2008, and had been on parole after being released from prison in November last year.

The accused's Legal Aid lawyer told the court that he would not be applying for bail.

A prosecutor asked the court for more time to do a follow-up consultation with the victim, saying that investigators were still awaiting crime scene photographs and DNA reports for the matter to proceed.

One resident, who asked not to be identified, had this to say.

"He preyed on that child, and for them taking long and saying there isn't... waiting on evidence... How? Why waiting?"

The matter was postponed to 25 July for further investigation.
