CAPE TOWN - Members of the National Coloured Congress (NCC) disrupted the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s 25th anniversary celebrations in Hanover Park on Tuesday.
As a birthday celebration, the DA handed out blankets to pensioners living at Hanover Cottages home for the elderly in Hanover Park.
During the celebration, a small group of NCC members gathered outside the gates to raise concerns.

Poor metro police visibility, a lack of resources for the poor and a lack of decent housing are some of the issues raised by the NCC in Hanover Park.
A small group of NCC members gathered outside Hanover Cottages, where DA members were handing out blankets to the pensioners.
DA leader John Steenhuisen, who attended the event, responded to the NCC's disruption.
"Although policing is a national competency, the City of Cape Town has a gangs unit, it has a drugs unit, and it is taking the fight directly to the criminals here."
Steenhuisen says on a national level, the DA is fighting for more resources for the South African Police Service (SAPS).
"It's why we have to grow our economy, because if we don't grow our economy, we are going to continue seeing budgets curtailed."
Steenhuisen urged the NCC to join the blue party in calling for more resources for the country's police services.
