JOHANNESBURG - The body of a little girl who had been reported missing in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga has been found.

Six-year-old Yolanda Mujovo was discovered next to a graveyard at Mathafeni, outside Nelspruit, on Friday night.

The six-year-old was reported missing earlier this week when her father could not find her at home upon returning from a tuckshop.

According to police, on Monday, Mujovo’s father had reportedly left the little girl and her younger sister to go to a local tuck shop to buy a few items. It is understood that the father had instructed the two children to lock the door of their family home until his return. However, when Mujovo’s father returned home, Yolanda was not at the house, only her four-year-old sister.

A missing person's file was subsequently opened.

Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said, “On Friday evening, police and the paramedics received information regarding a child that was found in the bushes. Unfortunately, the medical personnel reported that she has passed on.”

Mdhluli added that a case of murder had been opened, and no arrests had yet been made.
