CAPE TOWN - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has confirmed the death of a 65-year-old local man in Still Bay.
On Monday afternoon, crew were activated after reports of a local man in distress at sea.
It’s understood the man went surf-skiing on the Goukou River with a friend when he fell out of his surf-ski near the Still Bay jetty.
A NSRI crewman saw the incident and helped the man’s friend recover, CPR efforts were started, and an alarm was raised.
"The patient was transported by EMS ambulance to local doctors, with CPR efforts continuing. At the doctors' rooms, after all efforts to resuscitate the man were exhausted. Sadly, the man was declared deceased by doctors," said spokesperson Craig Lambinon.
