JOHANNESBURG - FlySafair said that South African Airways (SAA) would operate two of its flights from Tuesday until Sunday.

This comes amid a labour dispute between the low-cost airline and its pilots that has led to a strike and flight cancellations.

The pilots, represented by trade union Solidarity, rejected the airline's 5.7% salary increase, demanding a 10% raise and changes in working conditions.

However, the airline said that the pilots' demands were not economically feasible.

Last week, the low-cost airline told its customers that it would be trimming its schedule from Tuesday to reduce the number of pilots it would need this week.

With the airline and the union set to meet with the CCMA on Wednesday, Solidarity spokesperson, Helgard Cronje, said they were hopeful that the airline would meet them halfway.
