CAPE TOWN - Police in Kraaifontein have made multiple arrests during the start of Operation Basadi.
The operation took place on Friday, where members met at a high school in the area and searched the school bags of over 800 learners as they entered the school grounds.
A mini community service centre was also set up, where police managed to service 11 respondents with protection orders for domestic violence-related cases.
Members arrested a 25-year-old male for the possession of stolen goods and arrested another 33-year-old for the possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk said members checked and searched 47 vehicles around the school
“While the search continued at the school, the members searched a silver Kia Sportage and found a Norinco 7.62 calibre with eight rounds inside the spare wheel in the boot of the vehicle. The firearm with the rounds was confiscated and handed in.” said Van Wyk.
