JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero has kept mum on the delays in appointing a successor to Kenny Kunene in the transport portfolio.
Kunene resigned as a councillor in July after becoming embroiled in controversy linked to murder-accused Katiso "KT" Molefe, who is alleged to have orchestrated DJ Sumbody’s murder.
Questions arose when the suspended Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy leader was found at Molefe’s home during a police raid in July.

Insiders have told Eyewitness News that the Patriotic Alliance had asked Morero to appoint Liam Jacobs as the MMC for transport, but Morero was not pleased with the proposal.
It’s understood that Morero feels the transport portfolio may be too demanding for a 24-year-old councillor with no prior experience in government.
Jacobs, who recently defected from the Democratic Alliance (DA) to join the Patriotic Alliance, was sworn in as a Johannesburg councillor following Kunene’s resignation.
When questioned about the delays in appointing a transport MMC, this is what Morero had to say.
"The mayor should be given some space to finalise this matter. In no time, I will be finalising the appointment of the MMC of transport. At this stage, I’m the acting MMC for transport until further notice."
The PA has now appointed a law firm to probe Kunene’s matter.
