CAPE TOWN - The Higher Education Portfolio Committee wants answers from Minister Buti Manamela on whether he followed correct procedures when putting three Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) under administration.
Manamela placed the Construction SETA (CETA), Services SETA (SSETA), and local government SETA (LGSETA) under administration last week.

Committee chairperson Tebogo Letsie said he’s aware that some of the SETAs are challenging Manamela’s decision.
"They’ve written to me as well. They’ve indicated their intention to challenge this process or the decision of the minister."
He said Manamela has until tomorrow to answer his letter on whether he followed the right process, like informing the National Skills Authority (NSA).
"We will find out in our engagement with the ministry what was that process and if it was a process done properly and if not, what will be the consequence of management."
