CAPE TOWN - Cape Town taxi association Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA) said it's studying the court judgment granting the provincial Mobility Department an interdict in a bid to end the violence in the city.
The department approached the High Court on Thursday to compel the rival taxi associations CODETA and Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) to stop the shootings, which claimed five lives this week.
Nine other people were wounded in fresh violence at taxi ranks in Philippi East, Khayelitsha, and Macassar.
The attacks are linked to a feud between the taxi organisations over a route from Khayelitsha to Somerset West.

The court interdict gives the Provincial Mobility Department the go-ahead to implement measures in response to the ongoing minibus taxi-related violence plaguing parts of Cape Town.
It will be in effect until 9 October, when the court will decide whether to make it permanent.
However, CODETA spokesperson Makhosandile Tumana said they'll most likely contest the ruling.
"What we are going to do we will review the court's decision and explore all avenues that are necessary. We will challenge it with our legal team."
The interdict specifically prohibits members of the affected taxi associations from interfering with transport services at the Somerset West taxi rank, Somerset West Mall, and on four key routes.
