CAPE TOWN - A community in Hanover Park is reeling after three children were wounded in a gang shooting.

An adult is also recovering after the attack by six suspects in Agulhas Court on Tuesday night.

The shooting comes as Cape Town deals with a surge in gang violence in various areas.

The sound of gunshots being fired in Hanover Park while residents make their way to work in the morning is a daily reality for those living in the area and for several Cape Town communities plagued by gang and gun violence.

The Hanover Park community policing forum's Kashiefa Mohammed: "The sad part of the children who were shot and injured in a gang-related incident last night, it was winter and our children didn't play outside. For the first time in two months, everybody felt that they wanted to be outside, the gangsters came and just shot at the innocent children."

The children wounded in Tuesday night's attack are 10, 14 and 16 years old.
