Johannesburg Water reassures residents amid ongoing disruptions

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Water has assured residents affected by disruptions that alternative arrangements will be made to ensure they have access to water.

Some areas in Johannesburg have experienced shortages throughout the weekend following a power outage at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pumping station.

Although the station is now operating at full capacity, the water supply has not yet been fully restored to certain communities.

Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo said, "The Eikenhof system supplies water to the City of Johannesburg, Rand-West, Mogale City, Rustenburg, and Merafong Mines. As a result, some of the reservoirs have been low. However, power has been restored, and we are pumping at full capacity."
