CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Anroux Marais has welcomed the arrest of a 49-year-old man in connection with the murder of two women in Kraaifontein.
The area has been rocked by a number of violent murders this week.
On Tuesday night, six people, including four women, were shot and killed in three separate shootings in Wallacedene and Eikendal.
Marais has thanked residents who came forward with information, resulting in an arrest.
"I extend my deepest gratitude to the members of the community who came forward ith vital information that assisted in identifying this suspect."
Meanwhile, Marais has also condemned an act of vigilantism that occurred, also in Wallacedene, on Wednesday night.
"Such acts of lawlessness have no place in our society and only serve to undermine the rule of law and the disbursement of justice."
Three men in their thirties were killed and set alight in a vigilante-style murder.
Police said preliminary information suggests that the victims were accused by community members of criminal activity.
