Thus far, the commission has heard testimony from students, police, university employees, and stakeholders.
It is trying to establish what the cause of the violence was, but mainly to determine the violence and brutality experienced at the institution, especially during student protests.
Student Sisonke Mbolekwa was murdered while some of his schoolmates were injured.
The families of the victims said they have confidence in the commission.
Ncedo Kolanisi spoke on behalf of the families, “I would say that the commission is steering in the right direction. A lot has been unearthed within the internal squabbles that have led to the fatal shooting of Sisonke Mbolekwa and completely destroying Sethu Ndamase’s life.”
The commission will on Friday morning lead evidence from Sibusiso Ngubane, the security boss of Myaluza Security, which was previously deployed at the campus.
