The pipe, which will take up to three weeks to install, is set to draw water from the Crosby reservoir, which has high water pressure.
The effort comes as the main water system supplying Westbury, Coronationville and surrounding areas has failed to build up enough supply to fully restore water to the area.
"The plan includes to undertake under-pressure drilling and laying approximately 200m to connect to these two pipes; the work is expected to start on Monday the 22nd," said Morero.
There are disruptions at a media briefing in Coronationville Hall where Joburg Mayor Dada Morero and Joburg Water came to update the community on why water has not been restored at full capacity as promised a week ago.@Jay_Mbatha pic.twitter.com/g2Z74Y2J9S
