ANC cautions against 'conclusive judgments' on Madlanga Commission testimony

The African National Congress (ANC) has warned against people making conclusive judgments at this early stage of the Madlanga Commission. 

The commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa following the explosive 6 July media briefing by KwaZulu-Natal Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. 

Mkhwanazi claimed the country’s criminal justice system in Gauteng was being controlled by senior cops and politicians in cahoots with drug cartels and criminals.

During his 3-day testimony last week, Mkhwanazi implicated a number of politicians in wrongdoing, namely ANC member, Senzo Mchunu, the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Diane Kohler-Barnard and natioal coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams. 

Speaking on the sidelines of an anc event in Johannesburg on Sunday, ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula, said all those implicated cannot be judged until they have appeared at the commission to register their responses. 

“Let those who can prove that the country, our police system has got challenges, come to the fore. Mkhwanazi has spoken, the president has responded to that, we have a commission. Give the man a chance and stop making conclusive issues because others are going to come and speak.”
